Welcome message from president

Dear Members of the Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgeons,

It is with great pride and honor that I address you as the President of our esteemed society. As the first female president of the AASNS, I am truly humbled and grateful for the trust and confidence you have placed in me to lead our organization.

I am deeply committed to advancing the field of neurological surgery in the Asia Australasian region, and I believe that our society has a critical role to play in achieving this goal. As neurological surgeons, we have the privilege and responsibility of caring for patients with some of the most complex and challenging conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system. Through collaboration, education, and research, we can continue to improve outcomes and provide the best possible care for our patients.

I have been working closely with our members, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen the AASNS and ensure that we are providing value and support to our members. I am forging new avenues for collaboration and engagement, including with new member neurosurgical societies, the WFNS and the AANS.

Our education program, led by Professor Yigal Shoshan is delivering regular high quality in person education across Asia with a dedicated faculty. Please check the website for both past and upcoming seminars. And of course, we look forward to the AASNS Congress in Taiwan November 2024, hosted by the Taiwanese Neurosurgical Society and Professors Yong-Kwang Tu and Yung-Hsiao Chiang.

I am excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead of us, and I am confident that, together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and the advancement of our field.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to continue working with you.

Sincerely,

Kate Drumond

President, Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgeons
